Foreword

Foreword

Through the many sleepless nights of writing this book, one thing I never quite understood. God could have picked a lot of other people to write this book. Why in the world would He pick me?

So, I listened to the words He put in my head, because the words came straight from God. As He spoke these words in to my memory, I just listened and wrote everything He said.

First give honor to my creator and maker, I would like to thank the numerous people that help me in completing this book. I would like to thank the many different authors, published, and unpublished that I have had the privilege of reading. Since nothing is new under the sun, I must admit that all these words are not mine. They are the result of a lifetime of study, reading and listening to many sermons. I want to thank Vision of Hope Church, Inc., my many friends through out Oklahoma, Alabama, and Florida. Thanks to my wife, my father and his wife, my mother and her husband my brothers, sisters, and my family. Most of all, I thank God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Chapter 1

Who is God that man should worship him?

Genesis 1:1- 3:6

Understanding God

Recovery is the first step in breaking free from the grasp of sin. The recovery process deals with us recovering our understanding of God and Lucifer. It also deals with us understanding who we are as the creation of God and what our sin has done to us. Some of the information that we will uncover might have already been taught to us. Some of us might have never heard it. Still, it is very important that we understand some basic truths that we will deal with.

In order for us to gain a complete understanding of God, we must first view him as the Scriptures describe him. The book of Genesis begins with a description of God. It says, "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." This opening sentence let us know that God is a creative being. Just how God created the earth, the animals, and man is still the center of many debates, but we are not here to argue if God did or how God did what He did.

This simple statement in Genesis shows us that God is much like us. He is creative. Creativity involves more than just the ability to put something together, like assembling a car or putting together a jigsaw puzzle. In order for one to be creative, one must be imaginative, innovative, artistic, calculating, logical, prepared, and able to do. Throughout the Holy Bible, we find evidence of God’s creativity. If we just look around in the world that we live in, we can examine perfect examples of God’s creativity. This is what the Scriptures say in Genesis 1:2, " Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the face of the earth and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." God used the creative powers of the Word of God to bring into being what he had imagined in his mind. God imagined light and said ‘ Let there be light ‘ and it was. God imagined the sea and said ‘Let there be.’ and it was.

Genesis 1:26 shows us a more personal side of God’s creativity. It says, " Then God says, ‘ Let us make man in our image and likeness.’ God imagined man and imagined how man would look and God took time to create man. He did not create man to look like anything in heaven. He did not create man to behave like anything he had created. He made man to be like him. Man was created in the image and likeness of God. Man possesses some of the same characteristics of the Creator. The Scriptures say that God breathe into man the breath of life or his Spirit. (Genesis 2:7)

The book of Numbers 14:11-20 gives us a look at God’s personality. Moses, in his plea for the rebellious nation of Israel, describes God as slow to anger, abounding in love, and forgiving. David continues to add to the list. He says in Psalms 36:5-9 that God is faithful, righteous, and just. The bible shows us that the love of God reaches out of the heavens and touches each of us. It shows us that we can count on God to do just what his word says that he will do. God will do abundantly more than we can ever ask or think because of his great love for us.

The Scriptures also describe God as being different from his creation. To understand this concept let us picture the family of God as it really is. As a family, God is our father, his spoken Word is our mother, and the Spirit of God is the character traits. This means that God imagined us, then the Word of God produced or gave birth to us, and the Spirit of God brought us to life. (Genesis 2:7) As the offspring of God, the Word of God, and the Spirit of God, we, the children of God, inherited many of his character traits. These traits were automatically passed down to us when we were born. At birth, every child of God has the ability to think, imagine, and calculate. Every child of God acts, looks, and thinks like God. Yet, in spite of these same character traits, God is still different from us. He is different from us because he is the Father.

Another reason that God is different from us is, we are the by-products of the union of three separate parts of God. When a man and a woman produce a child, the child might have his father’s eyes and his mother’s looks. Because of the combination of the different traits of the birth parent, the child will be like the parents, think like the parents, and act like the parents, but the child will also be very different. When the Word of God combined with the Spirit of God to create what God had imagined in his mind, the by-product became the child of God or man. The child of God was just that, he was the child of God. He was made in the image of God as God had imagined him to look. The union of the physical spoken Word of God and the Spirit of God brought forth a spiritual physical man. (Genesis 1:27-30)

Another description of God would be that he is eternal. Eternal in this sense means that he is everlasting. David wrote in one of the Psalms that God is from everlasting to everlasting. God is eternal because he was here when the Big Bang happened and he will be here when the Big Bang happens again. The Scriptures describe eternal as being the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and the first and the last. God is definitely eternal.

The sorrows of God

To understand God’s position in our lives and his position concerning our sins, let us, now, think of God as being the parent of a wayward child. Let us imagine us as being that child. When the child is first brought home, there is much joy. Everything that the newborn does is enjoyed and laughed at. As the child grows, he begins to take on some of the characteristics of the parents. However, as the child continues to grow, because of his surroundings the child soon starts to develop his own characteristics and personality. The child soon begins to explore the world around him. As the child grows and explores, he soon goes outside of the boundaries set by his parents. We all know that a child does not have to be taught to be bad, but a child must be taught to be good.

In much the same way, we, too, find ourselves outside of the boundaries of God. When God created us, we brought much joy to the heart of God. As we grew, we started exploring the things that God had provided for us and the things that God did not want us to mess with. We soon found ourselves outside of the boundaries that God had set for us. This is where sin happens. Sin is being outside of the boundaries of God. Sin is breaking the house rules of God.

These house rules of God are what the Scriptures tell us that we must be like. Remember that we said earlier that some of the characteristics of God are (1) he is calculating, (2) he is logical, and (3) he is prepared. With the influence of Lucifer and our imagination, we know how to be bad. God knew this and he logically calculated that we would sin, and he was prepared. The bible is our instructions on how to act and be the way that God created us to be. However, when we do not act, as God would have us to act, we fall into sin. When we sin, we must become aware of five very important things.

Sin brings sorrow to the heart of God. {Genesis 6:6-8; Romans 1:18}

This does not mean that God wishes that he had never made us. Rather it means that as a parent is upset when their child is rebellious, God is also upset when we are rebellious. Sin is rebellion against God. God is upset about what we are doing to ourselves when we do sin. God is upset that we chose death by sinning, for the wages of sin is death. God is upset because we have substituted the truth for a lie. God is upset because we have traded a priceless treasure for a piece of junk. When we step outside of the boundaries of God, we reject everything that God has to offer for anything that will support our self-centered lifestyle.

Sin breaks our fellowship with God. {Genesis 3:8; Acts 3:19}

Because God is holy, he cannot tolerate sin. Because God is morally perfect, he will not and cannot condone or ignore such willful disobedience and rebellion. When we fall into sin, we break our fellowship with God. We reject God’s way of life. Then, we create in our mind ideals of what a god should be like or do. Finally, we grow to hate God. God does not cause this breakup. When we reject God, God allows us to live, as we want to. God gives us over to our sin and allows us to feel the consequences of our actions.

When we choose to follow other gods and break our fellowship with God, he does not try to stop us. God will let us declare our independence from him. He will allow us to go our separate ways. In time, we become slaves to our sin. In time, we lose our choice not to sin. It can be better understood if we think of our sins in term of our addiction

Before any of us ever tried any kind of drug or alcohol, we never imagined that we would be addicted to it. The beer and cigarette commercials tell us that there are many good benefits to be gained from using their product. Nevertheless, they do not show us the addicts. The drug pushers do not tell the potential users that they could become addicted when they use the drug. The pushers tell the users only what the users want to hear and that is usually a lie.

When we believe these lies, we soon become trapped into a life that we no longer have control over. When we drink that first beer, no beautiful people appear as they do in the commercials. However, we do get drunk. Soon, we start liking the feeling that we get. Before we know anything, we are trapped into a lifetime of getting drunk. When we take that first hit of crack, it is much the same way. We like the feeling and soon we find ourselves on our knees searching the floor for some imaginary crumbs that does not exist. Then after we finish doing the crackhead crawl, we find ourselves doing anything to get another hit. We, at this point, are out of control.

God is not limited by our sins {Matthew 1:1-17)

Nevertheless, God’s work in human history is not, will not, and cannot be limited by humanity’s failures and sins. God has often worked through ordinary people to accomplish his will. Some of the people that God worked through like Abraham, Ruth, and David are considered heroes of faith. God blessed Abram because of his faithfulness. God changed his name to Abraham and gave him a son. The bible says that David was a man after God’s own heart. Still, some had shady reputations, like Rahab and Matthew, the tax collector. Nevertheless, in spite of who they were or what they might have later become, it is clear that they started as just ordinary people. They were ordinary people that were caught up in a world of sin, like you and I. They were ordinary people that did not know God and never had trusted in him. Yet, through these ordinary people, God was able to do great things.

Today, God is still doing great things through ordinary people. What is so great about the God of the Holy Bible? What so great about the God that we serve? The answer is God is not limited by our sins. Even when we find ourselves in the deep trenches of sin, God is not limited. Even when we find ourselves helpless, lost, and stuck on stupid while stand on Crack Street, God will not be limited. Although we might limit ourselves to the blessings of God because of our sins, God is not limited from coming to our rescue.

Psalms 23:4 say, " Although I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me. Thou rod and Thou staff they comfort me." When we sin, we are faced with death, for the Scriptures say that the wages of sin is death. When we walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, we are traveling through the place where sin resides. David knew that although he faced death, he did not have to fear it because God was his friend and God would come to his aid. This is the same promise that we, as the children of God, can claim. Although we may find ourselves in sin, we can turn to God for help. Even when we cannot find the answers to our problems, God’s rod, the Scriptures, and God’s staff, his Holy Spirit, will be there to guide, correct, protect, and lead us to the rock that is higher than we are. (Psalms 61:2)

Let us examine the Apostle Paul. The Scriptures says that for years Paul, then Saul, persecuted the church from one corner of the known world to the other. No matter where the early Christians would hide, Saul would search for them and find them. To use a phrase, Saul always got his man. Then one day, God changed things around. Saul became the subject of a divine manhunt. Saul was not hunted because of his religious belief. Saul was not hunted because he had done something wrong. God needed someone to do a job for him and Saul was the best man for the job. One day on the road to Damascus, the manhunt for Saul ended. God touches Saul, changed his name, changed his mission, and change the course of human history. Sometimes, when God has need of us, we have no chose but to say, " Hear am I, oh Lord. Send me.

It is the same with each child of God. God can take the worst of us and recreate us to be the best saint. Just because we are surrounded by our sins does not mean God cannot save us. Just because the world has labeled us as useless, and thrown us to the side, does not mean that God does not have need of us. In the Old Testament, God used two lepers that no one wanted to touch to save the starving nation of Israel. (2 Kings 7:3-11) God will use ordinary people to do His will.

God looks for those in sin. (Luke 15: 3-6)

Even in today’s advanced society, some Christians are bothered when they see other Christians associating with sinners. The Christians that are seen with the undesirable people; the Christians that are seen coming out of the undesirable places are often talked about and even sometimes have their salvation questioned by other Christians. Nevertheless, as children of God, we need to come to understand that God is not a respecter of person. God looks for those that are lost in sin. Jesus gave us a perfect example of this. Jesus was often found in the company of sinners and even His inner circle of disciples included some notorious sinners, like Matthew, the tax collector. The Scriptures says that Jesus came to save the lost. Jesus came to show God’s love for the sinner.
This love of God for his unrepented children has no boundaries. John 3:16 states, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." Romans 8:31-32 states, "If God is for us, who can be against us. He who did not even spare his own son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things." If God gave his only son for us, God will not hold back his salvation from us. Since God gave his only son for us, God will come to our rescue when we need him the most. God is looking for those in sin because they need his salvation the most.

God will forgive our sins. (1 John 1:5-10; 2:1-2)

If we want to have fellowship with God and receive his help in breaking free from our sins, we must put aside our sinful ways of living. We cannot claim to belong to God while living in sin. The Scriptures say very clearly that we cannot serve God and Lucifer. If we want to break free from our sins, we must let go of our sins. Sin brings death. The Scriptures clearly state that the wages of sin is death. Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. He paid the penalty for our sins by his death on the cross.

At our conversion from a life of sin, all of our sins are forgiven. However, after we become Christians, we still sin and we still need to confess our sins. Our confessions are not offered so that God will accept us, they are offered so that we can remain in fellowship with God. We cannot hide our sins or lie about them to God because he already knows them. God will not push us away when we confess our sin. Rather, God will draw us closer to him.

Our confessions free us to enjoy fellowship with God. It allows us to enjoy the blessings and the joy of God. True confession involves more than remembering what we did wrong and reciting it back to God. God already knows all of our sin, so he does not need to be reminded. True confession involves a commitment not to continue in sin. True confession brings us closer to God and gives us strength to defeat the temptation the next time. In confessing our sins, we are agreeing with God that we are sinners and we want to turn from our sins

Chapter 2

Who is Lucifer that man should fear him?

Job 1:6-1:12

Understanding Lucifer

The reason that we, as the children of God, need to understand Lucifer is, we are under constant attack from him and his evil forces. In order to defend ourselves from his attacks, we need be able to recognize him as the Scriptures describe him. We need to become aware of his power, his battle tactics, his way of thinking, and his limitations. With this kind of knowledge, we will be better armed to fight the good fight of faith against Lucifer and break his death hold on our lives.

The words, demon, devil, and Satan are the commonly used pronouns for an evil being or an evil presence. However, Lucifer is more than just an evil being or presence. His proper name is Lucifer and God created him. When we hear the names Satan and Lucifer, we might picture a strange looking being that has human like features. This creature usually has a tail and horns and carries a pitchfork. This being is thought to reside in the deepest and hottest parts of the earth. His residence is said to be the place where souls burn for eternity. Although this is the common perception that we have of Lucifer, it is the wrong one.

The Scriptures describes Lucifer as being a fallen angel, a snake, a demon, the accuser of the brethren, and the father of all lies. He is said to be like a roaring lion and can appear as an angel of light. The Scriptures say that he is a very deceiving spirit that can come into the presence of God. He is represent by a dragon and is destined for the pits of Hell. Furthermore, the Scriptures warn us that he is to be considered an enemy to the children of God. We are told to separate ourselves from him and anyone that is associated with him.

Lucifer was at one time a very important angel of God. Some theologians say that Lucifer was the angel in charge of the worship and praise in heaven. They say that he was completely adorned with every precious stone you could imagine. Lucifer could just think of a melody and it would start playing. Lucifer is describe as being the best looking of all the angel and the scholars placed him as fourth in the line of authority in heaven before he was thrown out.

Lucifer still has access to God.

In Job 1:6-12, we can find some additional information on Lucifer. Here in this passage of scripture we can see some of his character traits. Verse 6 says, "One day, the angels came to present themselves before the Lord and Lucifer also came with them." This passage reveals to us two things. First, although Lucifer lost his position in the kingdom of God, He did not lose his access to God. That is why most of the Scriptures call him Lucifer, which means "light-bearer" or "shining one." When he rebelled against God, Lucifer went from praising and worshipping God to finding fault in God and the things of God. Secondly, Lucifer is often found in the company of the people of God. The reason for this is, he is busy trying to steal God’s praise. He is trying to kill any hope of man ever being saved. He is trying to destroy the children of God.

Lucifer can only be in one place at a time.

God is the creator of Lucifer. Since Lucifer is a created being, he is limited like the other created beings. God is the only heavenly being that can be at more than one place at a time. (Daniel 10:12-14) Lucifer uses the fallen angels to fool us into thinking that he is everywhere. When Lucifer was thrown out of heaven, a third of the angels in heaven were thrown out with him. These angels make up the entire spiritual force of Lucifer. These demonic angels are the ones that Lucifer sends to torment us. Still, although these demonic angels are under Lucifer’s evil control, they cannot do any harm to the child of God without God’s permission. These demonic angels work to tempt people into sin.

Lucifer converses with God and man.

The Scriptures tells us that Lucifer talks with God. He has to talk to Him in order to do anything to a child of God. The conversations between God and Lucifer are usually filled with accusations by Lucifer and rebukes by God. Like God, Lucifer also talks to us. He does this by placing ideas and thoughts in our minds that are against the will of God. Lucifer will use our friends, family, and anyone else to talk to us.

As the children of God, we need to know that the voice of Lucifer is a lying voice, because the Scriptures call him the father of all lies. However, as the children of God, we need to know the voice of God and we need to know how totell if what we hear is from God. The Scriptures says to try the spirit by the spirit. If some thought or idea comes to us, we should try it by the Scriptures. If it is in the smallest way not in agreement with the Scriptures, then it is not from God.

Lucifer is limited on what he can do.

Throughout the Scriptures, we find limits that God has placed on Lucifer. In Genesis 3:14-15 and Revelations 20:10, God limits the life span of Lucifer. In Job 1:6, Lucifer is limited in what he can do to a child of God. Whatever it is that he might do has to be approved by God.
Lucifer is not only limited by God, he also can be limited by us. The Scriptures gives us many different ways in which we can limit the power of Lucifer over our lives. The Scriptures says that if we seek God, and resist Lucifer, he will flee. David said, "Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly or stands in the way of the sinner or sits in the seat of the mockers." (Psalms 1:1)

Jesus told us that we have the power and authority in His Name to cast out demons. He also said that one shall put a thousand (demons) to flight and two shall put ten thousand to flight. Lucifer tries his best to convince us that we are helpless in our struggle against him, but we are not helpless. God did not give us a weak and helpless spirit; He gave us a spirit of love, power, and a sound mind.

Lucifer is real and active on the earth. By knowing these things about Lucifer, we can be better prepare for his attacks. The aware child of God will look for Lucifer in every situation and circumstance. The aware child of God will judge and test any situation with the Scriptures. The Scriptures inform us that the best, the quickest way to rid ourselves of Lucifer is to seek God, resist Lucifer, and he will flee.

Lucifer is not a mere fantasy or folk tale; he is real. He has a powerful army that fights against God, Christ, the Spirit of God, and anyone who is on God’s side. Lucifer will try anything to get us to turn our backs on God. To be able to withstand his attacks, we must learn to rely on the strength of God. We must also use every piece of armor that God has given us. (Ephesians 6:10-18) If we resist Lucifer, he will flee from us. However, the child of God that considers Lucifer will be overcome. Some people can easily reject the temptations that Lucifer offers; yet, each ofus must rely on the Scriptures and the strength of God to help us to overcome the tricks of Lucifer.

Chapter 3

God made us in his image.

Genesis 1:1-4:1

Understanding whom God made us to be

Imagine that you are the only person left in the city after a bad nuclear disaster. After the heat dissipates, you slowly venture out of your hiding place only to find everything that was familiar to you is gone. The family, you sometimes were close to, are no longer alive. The friends and enemies, you had, are no longer alive. One thing that we know for sure is that after the joy of being alive subsides, you will definitely be lonely. For Adam, loneliness was quite different because he had never known the company of another human being.

It was both an honor and a favor that man was made last of all the creatures. Man was made the same day that the animals were made. His body was made of the same earth as theirs. While he is in the body, he inhabits the same earth with them. Nevertheless, man was to be a creature totally different from all that had been made. God said, "Let us make man."

Man was created to glorify the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The soul of man resembles the image of God. Man was made upright, Ecclesiastes 7:29 states "Behold, this only have I found: that God made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions." Man can understand the divine things of God. Man has the capacity to increase his knowledge and understanding. He has free will that can and sometimes does run contradictory to the will of God. Man has affection. He has appetites and passions. Man can think and reason. Our first parents were happy in having the image of God upon them. However, sin soon defaced this image.

God made us to be in control over the things that He has made for us.

The next thing that God did, after He decided how man was to look, was to assign man a job. God said,’ … and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that crept upon the earth.’ Hebrews 2:5-8 states, "For not unto angels did God subject the world to come, whereof we speak. But one hath somewhere testified, saying, ‘ what is man, that thou art mindful of him? Or the son of man, that thou visits him?’ Thou made him a little lower than God. Thou crowned him with glory and honor and did set him over the works of thy hands. Thou did put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that God subjected all things unto him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to him."

God gave human beings tremendous authority. He put us in charge of everything on earth. Every child of God needs to understand this marvelous truth. Man is too godlike in his origin, too glorious in his destiny, to waste himself in a life of sin. If we were animals, we might live as they live on the low plain of animal intellect. If we were no more than a machine, our fate would be of no concern. However, we are the children of God. We are made in the image of God, with a glorious destiny made possible to us. We are crowned with glory and honor!

When God created Adam, He gave him complete authority and rule over everything. Adam was the one that named the animals. He was the one to tend the garden. He was made after everything else and specifically crafted for the job. God said ‘Let us make man in our image.’ God was capable to create everything. Therefore, he made his image capable to take care of it.

Not only was Adam given control of all the animals and plants, he was given control over Lucifer. Lucifer had been dismissed from the celestial paradise to roam the earth along with a third of the angels. God did not forget that Lucifer was here. God equipped man to be able to resist Lucifer. God equipped Adam with the knowledge of the right thing and wrong thing to do and the ability to be able to choose to do it. This is what we call free will. God enables us with the knowledge of the Scriptures and free will to be able to do what the Scriptures instruct.

Then, Jesus picks up us poor ruined cast-a-ways of Lucifer. He saves us, sanctifies us, and then is "not ashamed to call us brethren." We are sentient beings, capable of joy or suffering. We are capable of endless development, either in God’s likeness or in the opposite. Nevertheless, none of us can ever speculate what an eternity of development will make us become. However, we do know that when we accept the suffering and sacrifices of our lord and savior Jesus, we again regain the authority over all things that Adam forfeited to Lucifer through his sin.

The children of God live in complete dependence upon the promise of the Scriptures that God will be for us. (Romans 8:31) The Scriptures are our swords and our faith in God is our shield to fend off the attacks of Lucifer. God has many ways of providing for his people, and they can be depended upon at all times.

God created us with authority.

Prayer is the appointed means for the children of God to obtaining what we need to assist us in our fight against Lucifer. The Scriptures instruct us to pray and to pray often. We should make it our business to pray, and be serious and earnest about it. We are to ask, not as a beggar asks for help, rather as a child of God. We are to ask, as a traveler asks for help when lost. We are told to seek as if we are looking for something of value that we have lost. Because of our sins, we have lost our fellowship with God. We are to knock, because we desire to enter the presence of God. Our sin has shut and barred the door to the power and presence of God. However, by prayer, we knock on that door. Whatever we pray for, according to the promise of the Scriptures, it shall be given us, as long as it is within the will of God. This truth applies to every child of God. Every one that asks receives. Whether they are Jewish or Gentile, young or old, rich, or poor, educated or illiterate, they will receive. All people are welcomed to come to the throne of God, if they come in faith. God is intelligent; he knows what we need, what we desire, and what is best us.

When we ask God in Jesus’ name, we are acknowledging our unworthiness to approach the throne of God. We are acknowledging that we are sinners. When we ask in the name of Jesus, we are showing our full dependence upon Christ as our Lord and our Savior. God will hear and answer our prayers. God will go to great lengths to help His children. Furthermore, when we talk to God, the Father in the name of Jesus, the Christ, we are calling on the One that made everything. He is capable to do more than we can ever ask or think.

When we are dedicated to God, through the baptism of water, of the Spirit of God, and our faith in Jesus, we can ask anything of God. We will receive it, as long as it is within the will of God. When we approach the throne room of God, we are to go boldly. When we petition God for anything, we must ask for the right reasons. If our motives are wrong, we will not get an answer. James 4:3 reveal the reason that some of our prayers is not answered. The Scriptures say, "You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts." God is not stupid. He knows our every secret thought. If we ask God for something selfish then God will not reply. However, if we ask not so that our will can be done rather so that God’s will can be done, then God will answer our requests.

God gives us power to change through His Spirit.

The union between Christ and the children of God is bound together by the Spirit of God. We believe that God is good, gracious and capable. However, when our faith rest in the promises in the Scriptures, the Spirit of God starts to work in us. This Spirit of God creates a change in every born again child of God. The Spirit of God changes us from an instrument under the control of Lucifer to a righteous heir to the kingdom of God.

The Spirit of God changes our heart, Ezekiel 36: 25-27.

Every born again child of God is given a new heart and a new spirit in order to help them in their new life as a Christian. God will give us a soft and tender heart of flesh that will comply with His holy will. The Scriptures works as a catalyst to transform the dead sinner into a usable instrument of God. The Spirit of God will make us fit for the task God has for us. These promises are to be believed because they will be fulfilled in every born again child of God.

The Spirit of God allows us to do God’s will. Ezekiel 37: 9-11.

No power on earth or in the heavens can bring a person back to life like God. Doctors have figured out a way to shock the heart back to life and revive a person. Nevertheless, if too much time pass, there is nothing that even the doctors can do. However, our God is not limit by the laws of our science. God can not only bring the dead back to life, as Jesus did with Lazarus, but God said that He will bring those long dead and forgotten back to life.

Not only will God resurrect us in the last days; God constantly is resurrecting us from the death of our sins. Remember the Scriptures states that the wages of sin is death. This death is not something that has to catch up with us some time in the future. This death is immediate, because it kills our fellowship to God. Without fellowship with God our spirit dies. However, when we are in fellowship with God, the Scriptures says that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

The Spirit of God teaches us how to pray. (Romans 8: 26-27)

Though the sins of the children of God are to numerous to count, the Spirit of God still helps us. The Spirit of God teaches us what to pray. The Spirit of God works and stirs up prayers when we are in no condition to pray. The Spirit of God silences our fears, and helps us overcome the temptations of Lucifer. The Spirit of God is the focus of all desires toward God, because that who’s spirit it is.

The Spirit of God is the power behind the statement of Paul: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. The Spirit of God enables the child of God to do the will of God. The Spirit of God that Paul is talking about is the very same Spirit of God from Genesis 1. The Spirit of God makes intercessions for us to God so that the enemy does not prevail.

God makes us new creations.

The renewed child of God acts upon new principles, by new rules, with new ends, and keeps new company. The renewed child of God is created one more time. His heart is not merely changed, but a new heart is given him. (Ezekiel 36:26) The renewed child of God is the workmanship of God, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. The renewed child of God is changed in his character and conduct. This change is more than the change of the outward appearance. The child of God is changed from within first and the transformation continues to the outside.

God has reconciled us by the blood of Jesus Christ. By the inspirations of the Spirit of God, the Scriptures were written, which are the Word of God concerning our reunion with God. The Scriptures show us that peace has been made by Jesus’ death on the cross. The Scriptures tell us of the power Jesus’ death and resurrection has provided for us. The Scriptures tell us how to use this power in our fight against Lucifer. The result of our being renewed is to make us righteous before God. Once we regain our righteousness before God, we also regain all the power and authority that God gave Adam and Lucifer stole.

Chapter 4

Man is sinful by nature

Genesis 2:1-3:13 Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-6,11-13

The reasons for our sin

Man is sinful, and we show it in our actions and our conduct. Man is always ready to do evil. Paul says in Romans that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. When we, as the children of God, are outside of God’s will, we are under the Divine sentence of the law; the soul that sinneth shall surely die. These things are true of men of all ages, of all nations, and all genders.

These truths are quite simple. They are so simple, we can overlook them with considerable ease. When we sin and do not clear it up with God, we drift quietly and silently away from God, like a boat adrift on the sea. As children of God, we should never set our own will against the holy will of God. When we allow our actions to be outside of the will of God, we forfeit God’s favor and deserve His punishment. Worse than that, we lose our fellowship with God.

Lucifer influences us into sin.

Lucifer conquered Adam and Eve and drew them into sin. Lucifer’s plan is to conquer each of us as he did them. Lucifer wants to separate us from our God. He wants to destroy any chance of us getting into heaven. In the garden, Lucifer tempted the woman, Eve. It was Lucifer’s policy to take advantage of people. Lucifer took advantage of her when he found her near the forbidden tree. Lucifer will use things, people, and ideas that we are use to or familiar with to get to us. Lucifer’s strategy is to send temptations by hands we do not suspect, and by those, that has the most influence upon us. Lucifer questioned whether it was a sin to eat of the tree. Then, Lucifer quoted the commandment wrong because he is a liar. It is the practice of Lucifer to speak of the Scriptures as uncertain or unreasonable, so that he can draw us into sin. Lucifer will try to get us to doubt God, and then to deny the truth that we already know about God.

Our disobedience opens the doorway for sin.

As the children of God, the Scriptures say that we can have anything that we want. The bible says that God will give us the desires of our hearts, but we must be obedient. Before Adam and Eve sinned, they welcomed God’s gracious visits with joy. Adam had no corrupt nature within him; but he did have a freedom of choice. When Adam chose to sin, he drew in all of the rest of humanity into sin and ruin. When it was too late, Adam and Eve saw the mistake of eating the forbidden fruit. They saw the happiness and peace they once knew disappear. They saw a loving God provoked into anger. They saw his grace and favor forfeited. They soon found themselves outside the protective fellowship of God. Adam and Eve were now miserable comforters to each other!

This, too, will be the fate of all of the children of God that continues to live in their sins. We have more interest in saving ourselves before men, than in obtaining a pardon from God for our sins. Men make excuses to cover and lessen their sins, but all of their best excuses are vain and frivolous. It is no wonder man has become a terror to each other. No wonder God’s once perfect world is full of confusion.

The five steps downward into sin

    1. We see. A great deal of sin comes in at the eye. We should not look on that which we are in danger of lusting after, Matthew 5:28.
    2. We consider. Our own act and deed lead us into sin. Lucifer may tempt, but he cannot force; he may persuade us to cast ourselves down, but he cannot cast us down, Matthew 4:6.
    3. We participate. When Eve looked perhaps, she did not intend to take. When she took perhaps, not to eat. It is wisdom to stop at the first sight of sin, and to leave it alone.
    4. We involve others. Those who do wrong are willing to draw in others to do the same. Misery loves company.
    5. They participate.

The consequences of your sin

Genesis 3:7-10, 14-19, 22-24, Genesis 4:1-2, Genesis 4:8-12

Those who go astray from God because of sin should seriously consider this question. Where are you? When a child of God is lost in sin, they are far from God. When a child of God is out of fellowship with God, they are in the midst of their enemies. They are in bondage to Lucifer, and on the road to utter destruction. The lost child of God cannot be either happy or satisfied where he has strayed. We, like Adam, have reason to be afraid of approaching God, if we are covered and clothed in sin.

Our sins are revealed to us in the light of the Scriptures. Instead of us acknowledging our sins, we often try to excuse our sins, and lay the shame and blame of them on others. We often say that the devil made us do it, when in fact it was something that we want to do all the time. We excuse our sexual infidelity by saying that everyone is doing it. Those who are willing to take the pleasure and profit of sin are never quite as quick to take the blame and shame of it. It is by the deceitfulness of sin that the heart of the lost child of God is hardened. (Romans 7:11; Hebrews 3:13) Though Lucifer may draw us into sin, yet this will not excuse our sin. Though Lucifer is the tempter, we are still the sinners. As sinners, we are found outside of the presence, fellowship and will of God.

Separation from God (A look at the Ten Commandments)

God speaks in many ways to men. He speaks by conscience, by providence, by his voice, and by his word. Anyone that says that God does not speak has not been silent long enough to listen. However, God never spoke at any time like when he spoke the TEN COMMANDMENTS.

This is the law or set of morals that we are all born with. God had written it in our hearts; but our sins and wrong way of thinking mutilated it so badly, that it was necessary for God to revive the knowledge of it. This law is spiritual. It takes knowledge of the secret thoughts, desires, and dispositions of the heart. Its grand demand is love, without which outward obedience is a mere deception. It requires perfect, unfailing, constant obedience. Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. (James 2:10) Whether in conduct, thought, word, or deed, to omit or to vary from the law is sin, and the wages of sin is death.

The first four of the Ten Commandments tell us of our duty to God. These were put first. Man had a God to love before he had a neighbor to love. The first commandment concerns the object of worship, God, and him only. Whatever comes short of perfect love, gratitude, reverence, or worship, breaks this commandment. Whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.

The second commandment refers to the worship we are to give to our God. It is forbidden to make any image or picture of God, in any form, or for any purpose; or to worship any creature, image, or picture. However, the spiritual significance of this command extends much further. All kinds of superstition and the using of mere human tradition in the worship of God are forbidden.

The third commandment concerns the reverence and respect that we are to render to the name of God. All false oaths and all profane cursing are forbidden. The Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.

The opening word of the fourth commandment, "Remember," shows that it was not just given, but was known by the people before. One day in seven is to be kept holy. Six days are allowed for worldly business. On those days, we must do all our work, and leave none to be done on the Sabbath day.

Christ allowed works of necessity, charity, and kindness; for the Sabbath was made for us, and not we for the Sabbath. (Mark 2:27) The Sabbath of the Lord should be a day of rest from worldly labor, and a rest in the service of God. The advantages that come from keeping of this holy day are not only for the health and for happiness of man. It also is for the spiritual well being of the soul. The day is blessed; men are blessed by it, and in it.

The laws of the last six of the Ten Commandments state our duty to ourselves and to one another, and explain the great commandment; Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. (Luke 10:27) Godliness and honesty must go together.

The fifth commandment concerns the duties we owe to our parents. The honor of our father and our mother is shown in our conduct and obedience to their lawful commands. We, as children, are to come when they call, go where they send, do what they ask, refrain from what they prohibit; and we are to do this cheerfully, and with love. We are also to submit to their counsels and corrections.

We are to make an effort to comfort our parents and to make their old age easy. We should try to maintain them if they need our support, which Jesus makes to be particularly intended in this commandment. (Matthew 15:4-6) We must take note of the fact that a peculiar blessing is given to the obedient child, and the reverse to the disobedient child. Honor thy father and mother so that your days may be long upon the land that the Lord, your God gives you.

The sixth commandment requires that we regard thelife and the safety of others as we do our own. Self-defense is lawful; but many things that are not deemed murder by the laws of man, are by the laws of God. Furious passions, murder, and all fighting, whether out of anger and malice, break this commandment. This command forbids all envy, malice, hatred, or anger, and all provoking or insulting language. The self-destruction of our own lives is also forbidden. This commandment requires a spirit of kindness, long-suffering, and forgiveness.

The seventh commandment deals with our faithfulness toward our spouse. We should be as much afraid of that, which defiles the body, as of that which destroys it. Whatever tends to pollute the imagination, or to raise the passions, falls under this law.

The eighth commandment is the law of God in respect to the property of others. The portion of worldly things given to us by God is part of the blessings that God has given us. Imposing upon the ignorance, easiness, or necessity of others, defrauding the public, contracting debts without paying them, or evading payment of debts break this command.

The ninth commandment is the law of God in respect to our own and our neighbor’s good name. This law forbids speaking falsely on any matter, lying, devising, or designing a plan to deceive our neighbor, bearing false witness against him, slandering, backbiting, and gossiping.

The tenth commandment strikes at the root; Thou shall not covet. The others forbid all desire of doing what will be an injury to our neighbor. This forbids all wrong desire of having what will gratify us.

These laws are so extensive that we cannot measure them. They are so spiritual that we cannot evade them. They are so reasonable that we cannot find fault with them. They will be the rules by which the future judgment of God will be rendered. As for the present conduct of the children of God, if we are judged by these rules, we shall find ourselves being declared guilty. The knowledge of the laws of God shows our need of repentance.

Playing the blame game

The soul that sinneth it shall die. Every person will be judged according to his or her position under the old covenant of Moses, or the new covenant of Jesus. We are all in the hands of God. He will deals with each of us with justice or mercy. No one will perish because of someoneelse sin. (Genesis 3:11-13) When God came into the garden and discovered that Adam and Eve had sinned, the first response of each of them was to blame someone else for their sin.

This is still the immediate response of us today. We have a tendency not to want to take the blame for our actions. The man that has an affair blames his wife for not being loving enough. The drug addict that uses drugs blames the pressures of life. Nevertheless, each person will be held accountable for his or her own sin at the judgment seat of God. If God would judge us according to the Ten Commandments, every child of God will be lost because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Nevertheless, God has provided a way for everyone to be saved.

How are we to be saved? This, too, is so simple we can very easily over look it. I John 1:9 state that, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Yet, when we try to blame others and circumstances for our sins, we have not truly confessed them to God.
No matter how we may try to excuse or cover our sins, with God, we are in the wrong. God will judge each of us according to our sins. This is why we need to truly repent and take the responsibility for our actions. God does not expect us to do what cannot be done, but He insists that we do what is in our power, and to pray for what is not. God has promised help for anyone that desires to seek Him and do His will.

Whose fault is it?

The decisions that we make tend to lead us down the wrong paths in life. Each person will be face with a critical decision to make in his or her lifetime. This decision will be whether to do what is right or to sin. The wrong decision will result in losing fellowship with God.

When we lose fellowship with God, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Each decision we make will result in things happening that can be for our good or for our bad. The Scriptures says that all things work together for the good of those that love the Lord according to God’s purpose. Deductive reasoning states that if all things work for the good of those that love God, then all things must work for the bad for those that does not love God. How shall we know that we love God? We will know if we keep His commandments.

There are over one million church buildings in America, and the Scriptures are published in over 47 different languages. We have no excuse for not knowing what the Scriptures say. We do not do what the Scriptures say we should do because of our obsession with the things and ways of the world. To a certain extent, We would break every commandment that God ever put out, rather than does the right thing. Our spouse has an affair and the first thing that we do is go and commits adultery ourselves. We, then, try to rationalize or excuse our sinful actions by saying that what is good for the goose is good for the gander. However, we tend to forget that the same person that owns the goose also owns the gander. The same way one will be judge all will be judged. No one will be excused from hell because of a reason to sin.

When we fall into sin the fault lies only on our shoulders and if we go to hell, the blame lies only with us. Lucifer can try to throw us down and even will try to convince us to throw ourselves down, but only we can throw ourselves down. Paul says it like this in Romans 8: 38-39, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." If we are separated from God, the fault is ours. God will judge each of us separately according to what we have done.

Placing the blame on Lucifer (James 1: 1-18)

Lucifer is not to blame for many of the things that are happening in our world today. His influence can be felt from the White House to the church house. In these last days, Lucifer is really putting up a tremendous fight. However, he cannot be blame for our sins. Lucifer can be accused of bringing varies thing into our world to entice us into sin. James 3:15-16 states that "But if ye have bitter envy and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from God. This kind of wisdom is earthly, sensual, and devilish. For where envy and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work."

Temptations come from evil desires inside of us. It begins with Lucifer putting an evil thought or ideal into our thought process. When we dwell on these thoughts, they soon turn into an action. When we focus on evil thoughts long enough, they will becomea part of us. This is one of the reasons why Jesus said that if you just think about committing adultery then you have already sinned. The mind that God created for us is a very powerful and dangerous tool. Sin gets more destructive the longer we stay in it. Soon sin turns from just a one-time thing into a repeated habit. The best time to stop sin is before it gets to strong and out of control.

Although Lucifer is to blame for introducing the evil thoughts into our minds, we still cannot lay the blame for our action on him. When we try to make excuses for our sins, we are just trying to shift the blame off us onto someone or something else. However, this will not work with God. God will judge each of us for our sins. There is an old saying that has a lot of truth in it. It says that we cannot hide anything from God because He already knows everything. God will require us to answer for everything that we do.

Taking responsibility for your actions

It is easy to blame someone or Lucifer for our sins. However, a child of God must be willing to take the responsibility for his or her sins. A child of God must confess these sins and repent of them. God has promise that He will forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Repenting of our sins means to get rid of sin. It also means to resist the temptation to sin. We must accept what Jesus has done for us and depend upon His strength to keep us out of sin. We must also read and study the Scriptures. The Scriptures is our only roadmap out of sin.

Not only must we read and listen to the Scriptures; we must also do what the Scriptures tell us to do. As the born-again children of God, we are saved and freed from sin because of Jesus’ death on the cross. As the born-again children of God, we are now free to live life as God intended for us to live. God intended for us to enjoy everything that He created for us to enjoy. God intended for us to have control and dominion over everything on the earth. God intended for us to be able to resist Lucifer.

Chapter 5

Why will God help us?

2 Chronicles 7:11-22; 2nd Kings 6:15-17

A child of God

The natural reaction of most of parents is to come running when their children are in trouble. Most parents are very protective of their children even if the child does not always act right. God is just as protective as our natural parents are. When it comes to the safety of His children, the Scriptures reveal that He will go to extreme lengths to protect what is His. The words that Elisha said to his servant in 2nd Kings 6:16, "fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them" are also spoken to every child of God. Fear not, this includes problems, sins, worries, temptations, enemies, or even Lucifer and all his demons. They that are with us, to protect us from all our fears, are more than they that are against us, to destroy us.

The eyes of our natural body see danger and worry in everything. Yet, God will open the eyes of our spiritual body, that we may see His protecting hand. The better understanding that we have of the sovereignty and power of God, the less we will fear our troubles, worries, and problems. Lucifer, the god of this world, blinds our eyes to the truth; but when God opens our eyes, we will see ourselves in the midst of our enemies, captives of Lucifer, and in danger of hell. Let us not be overcome by evil, but let us overcome evil with God.

When circumstances turn against us and we find our backs up against the wall of temptation, we have the promise of God that He will come to our rescue. Lucifer will try to convince us that the problems are to big for even God to handle. However, God will come to our rescue no matter what the problem may be. Jesus said that He would never leave us or forsake us. We can trust in this promise. Jesus is always more powerful than any temptation to sin that we may face.

Lucifer tries to convince us that God will not help us because we are sinners. However the Scriptures says in 1st John 1:9, ‘If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’ When we confess our sins and ask God for forgiveness, this allows us to enter a fellowship with God. God allowed His only Son to die just so we could be reclaimedback into His kingdom. When we confess our sin, we are agreeing with God that what we did was wrong and that we are his unrepented children in need of saving. When Lucifer tries to convince us that God will not help us, we need to remember that we are a part of a promise that God has to deliver.

A promise that God has to deliver.

In chapter 13:16 of the book of Genesis, God tells Abraham that his seed will be multiply to the point where his descendants would be uncountable. Again, in the Scriptures, God says that He will create a new nation of people that will be called God’s own people. God also says that He will choose these people although they were not His people. We are these people.

God has already revealed a plan to deliver us in the Scriptures. The Scriptures says in Joel 2:28 that in the last days God will pour out His Spirit upon all people. God is pouring out His Spirit today. God is looking for those in sin that wants His help. Regardless of what mess we have let Lucifer talk us into; God has a plan to deliver us from the grasps of Lucifer.

A plan to deliver.

The bible is God’s road map for our salvation. In it, we will discover God in living color. He has detailed his work of salvation for us to read and understand. The instrument for our salvation has already been set in place. The instrument for our salvation is Jesus, the Christ. The Scriptures says in the book of Acts 4:12 that ‘neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.’ Jesus is that name.

When we accept Jesus as our savior, we are reclaimed by God and adopted back into the Kingdom of God. As the children of God, God will do more than we can ever ask or think for us. This means that God will come to our aid when we are in trouble. Jesus said that he would never leave us nor forsake us. This is a promise that we can believe. When God reclaims us, we can boldly defy all the powers and threats of Lucifer. Since God is for us, we can rest assured that He will deliver us.

The delivery

One of the hardest substances to get free from is quicksand. The harder that you struggle to free yourself, the deeper that you sink. It is just as hard for us to free ourselvesfrom the control of sin. This is the reason that we need the help of God to get us out of sin. Our natural desire is to sin. All men are born into this world as sinners. Because we are born sinners, we are in need of salvation. The Scriptures say that the wages of sin is death. Therefore every man, woman, or child is in need of delivery from the penalty of their sin.

No matter how we try to excuse our sinful actions, all sin is the same in the sight of God. With God, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and God will send us to hell. However, there is a way out. Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross. Because of his sacrifice, we have been set free from the grips of sin and we can escape the just penalty for our wrong doings. The Scriptures state in John 3:16 that, ‘God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.’

This precious gift of God will not only deliver us from our sins, He will also free us from the grips of any addiction that hold us bound to Lucifer. Through our belief in the living Word of God, Jesus will set us free. The Scriptures clearly states in Romans 8:32 that God will help us. He has already given us everything he has. What else will God not do for us to deliver us from our sins?

Fighting a different type of fight (Deuteronomy 11:26-28; Galatians 3: 7-14; James 1: 5-7)

Many of Mike Tyson’s early fights lasted only a few minutes and some lasted even a couple of seconds. Tyson was known for his first round knockouts. It seemed as though his opponents never even had a chance of winning. We must realize that in the spiritual battle that we are in, we are much like many of Tyson’s opponents. We do not even have a chance of winning. Nevertheless, Paul says that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

In this spiritual war, our enemies are not made of flesh and blood. More accurately, the Scriptures tell us that they are principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. This means that our real enemies are not like us. Although they were made by the same God as we were, they are still different because they are Lucifer and the fallen angels. This enemy exists in the spiritual world. They move and live on a totally different level than us. It is impossible for us to wage war against them by ourselves. If we do, we are fighting a fight that we have no chance of winning.

The reason that our constant fellowship with God is so important is, only God can fight and beat Lucifer. The Scriptures tells us to seek God and resist Lucifer and he will flee. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden, they forfeited all of our abilities to control and beat Lucifer. Because of sin, we are still helpless to fight against him. Furthermore, every time we try we get beat. When we try our best to do right and still do wrong, Lucifer has beaten us. When we listen to our natural instincts and go after our fleshly desires, Lucifer has beaten us. When Lucifer beats us and we give into our natural desire for sin, we are placed under the curse of the law of God that says the soul that sinneth shall surely die.

Living under the curse

The Scriptures sums up all the arguments for our obedience in two words, blessing, and curse. God asks us to choose which we would have. When we break the law of God, we are placed under the curse of the law of God. Yet, God again sets before us a blessing and a curse. A blessing, if we obey the call of God for our repentance by faith in Christ; and an awful curse, if we neglect God offer of salvation. The decision is ours to make. However, it is a decision that will be made for us if we decide not to choose.

If we are not fully living for God, depending on Him for our entire existence and obeying His every command, then we are outside the will and fellowship of God. If we are found outside of His will, then we are under the curse of the law. This law of God says very plainly that the soul that sinneth shall surely die and the wages of sin is death. Since the Scriptures calls all men sinners, all men have been placed under the curse of the law of God. In spite of that, God has provided a way to break the curse of the law of God.

Breaking the curse

It is an undeniable fact that most of us have had the doctrine of Jesus preached to us and that we naturally understand that most of what we do is wrong. Nevertheless, this does not help us in our fight against Lucifer. We are blessed through faith in the promises of God; and this is the only way that we can break free from the curse of the law of God. Through faith in God, the Word of God, and the Spirit of God, we can break free from our addictions and reclaim our positions as the children of God.

The curse of the law of God is against all sinners. Therefore, it is against all men. For all have sinned, and are guilty before God. Since we are breakers of the law of God, we are under the curse of the law of God. Therefore, we cannot hope to be saved by it because anyone who is guilty of breaking the least of the laws of God is guilty of breaking them all. Faith is the only way we can be freed from the penalty of our sins and the wrath of God. Faith is the only way that we can be restore to our position as the children of God and a life in the favor of God.

Although salvation is not expected from the law of God, there is a way open to escape the curse of the law of God, and regain the favor of God. This can be done through faith in Jesus. Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law. By being made a sin offering for us, he was made a curse for us under the punishment of the law of God. The death of the Son of God should warn us to stop sinning. God will not spare us if we remain in sin since he did not spared His own Son.

In 2nd Chronicles, God answers King Solomon’s prayer by giving him the steps in which we can be restored to the favor of God. Through doing the things that God asks of us, we cannot only reclaim our position as the children of God. We can also reclaim our power to fight Lucifer.

Fighting Lucifer

Again, let us remember that it is naturally impossible for us to fight against Lucifer. This is because Lucifer is an angel of God and only God can fight him. However, if we follow and do what the Scriptures tell us to do, we can enlist the help and all the power of God to fight the good fight of faith. In order to enlist the help of God, we need to have faith that God can and will do everything that we ask of Him. The Scriptures says that God will do abundantly more than we can ever ask or think. God will help us in our constant struggle against Lucifer if we just ask.

When we ask of God, we cannot doubt that He will help us. This is how Lucifer beats many of us. Lucifer will introduce doubt into our thought process to get us to underestimate what God is willing to do for us. Lucifer will question and misquote the Scriptures in order to confuse us. Thisis the main reason that we need to know the Scriptures for ourselves. We also need to understand that the Scriptures are written so plainly that a fool cannot error in doing it. What this means is that God do not need anyone help to interpret what He says in the Scriptures. What God says is exactly what God means. If God says we should not do something, then He means that we should not do it. If God promised in His word that He would do something, then we can believe that He will do exactly what He said that He would do.

However getting God to help us involves more than knowing what the Scriptures say. Lucifer knows the Scriptures and he is still going to hell. If we want to get God’s help, then we need to have a firm and persistent faith or belief that if God be for us, then who can be against us. We have to believe that we can do all things through Christ who strengthen us. Moreover, we must be ready to do the Will of God no matter the cost. If we are ready to be obedient to God and completely trust in Him, then we are ready to submit to God.
